Today was our first full day of vacation with my family and we have been busy. My cousin’s wedding is tomorrow so there are meals and get-togethers planned with family members all weekend long. (I have several aunts, uncles, and cousins that live here in Michigan).
We are staying at one of my Uncle and Aunt’s house and its a great set up. Such a beautiful log house with a beautiful view in the back yard. This house is so relaxing!
I knew I wouldn’t have a lot of time to workout with all our planned events, but I snuck a quick one in while little Roxy was catching a nap today.
This is how it went:
I know I have to move as much as possible because I know I will let myself have some deserts while here. Vacation used to be a battle with me because I would think it was a complete free for all for food and eat whatever I wanted and then would feel completely guilty and want to beat myself up about it. Now I have a much more balanced approach. I pick and choose what I want to indulge in, and for me that is deserts. Normally I have a good no button for desert, but on vacation I give myself a little slack. I still choose my lean protein and veggies mainly for my meals, or have a small portion of what is served and double (or triple) my salad intake. This mentality is SO MUCH better than the all or nothing approach. This way I don’t go to bed every night hating myself, and I still get to enjoy a little dessert without completely wrecking my diet and fitness gains.
I gave this workout to several clients to do while I was gone, and it is a great one when no equipment is available! Try it out 3x in a week and comment below how fast you can get through the 5 rounds each time.
Question of the day:
Where is your favorite place you have vacationed this past year?
