And Monday has made an appearance again! People tell you the older you get the faster time goes and it is seriously true! Weeks fly by so quickly now. (Especially the weekends!) I am never ready for Monday morning when it comes around, and I am sure most of you have the same feelings. But here we go! Time to plan your week of workouts, healthy eating, work, family and life.
I started my morning with a strength workout with one of my clients and then came home and went for a run with my husband and daughter. Monday mornings he watches her and I usually work, but most of my morning clients are on vacation this week, so we took advantage of a little time together with some exercise. Lately I haven’t been running so much because for one It. Is. HOT! And not only hot, but humid as well. My cousin (from Michigan) has always described it as like living in someone’s mouth. Yup- pretty much sums it up. I also haven’t been running lately because I think I possibly have some adrenal fatigue going on (I am going to my endocrinologist this week) and I don’t want to cause any more stress on them, and running can do that. Lately I do strength workouts (weights) 3-4x a week, some intervals for cardio 2-3x a week, and then I walk 3-4x a week. These are all to help me burn fat more efficiently without adding too much stress on my body, (which medium intensity, long duration cardio like running could potentially do). That being said, I do miss my runs. I plan on getting back to them this fall and doing some more races.
Today Robbie kicked my butt on our run. I knew we would only go 2-3 miles so I wasn’t worried about the distance, but he made me push it way faster than I like to go. Especially since I hadn’t run in a while. Oh, and he hasn’t run in a long time too… I just love it when he can show me up without training whatsoever! He got me to an 8:45min mile pace and while I know that isn’t that fast for some, I am used to a 10 min mile pace. I only made it a mile and a half before I had to walk, then finished 2 miles with him. My heart rate had gotten to 196 by the end of the run! I recovered quickly thank goodness, so that feeling of wanting to throw up only lasted a couple seconds. 🙂
I can’t wait for the cooler weather so that running will be a lot more enjoyable! Florida Fall and Winter weather is the best for running! Until then, I will stick more to my Intervals on the Elliptical/Treadmill, strength workouts, and my walks! Here is my Elliptical workout that I did yesterday:
I now hear little girl on the baby monitor. Time to go play the game of keeping her from falling off/into/on anything that could hurt her, making sure the floors are clean that she can’t find anything to put in her mouth and choke on (she still will find something), trying to get her to eat foods that are good for her (not puffs or mum mums) but again not choke on them, and then try to stimulate her so she learns a lot without having to use the television (uh, yea). Talk to you all later!
Question of the day:
How many times a week do you strength train and do cardio?
