Had a chocolate craving today so decided to make a little treat.
One of my clients sent me a link to www.thewannabechef.com with different types of homemade chocolates. While I wouldn’t call these healthy, they are a better alternative than store bought candy because you can lower the sugar content (a little) and there aren’t any preservatives, dyes, or other artificial ingredients. And everyone needs a chocolate fix once in a while!
* 2 cups unsweetened coconut flakes
*1/3 cup liquid sweetener(agave, maple syrup, corn syrup, etc.)
*1/4 cup powdered sugar
*2 tablespoons coconut oil
*1/4 teaspoon salt
*7.5oz bittersweet chocolate, melted (a little under 1 cup if using baking chips)
-Mix all ingredients together except chocolate.
-Roll coconut into little bars and freeze for about 10 min
-Slowly melt chocolate and then roll coconut bars until covered.
-Freeze again until hardened.
-Enjoy 1 at a time. (Yeah right!)
