Hi, my name is Melissa and I’m addicted to peanut butter. And almond butter, cashew butter, or you name it nut-butter.
I seriously have to take a break from consuming nut butters sometimes if I find myself out of control. I don’t know what it is about the creamy nutty taste, but sometimes I can make several trips to the jar a day.
I’m all about moderation and balance and think you can have things you enjoy without overdoing it, but everyone is different and I know when I need a break from a potential trigger food. For me peanut butter and almond butter can be a nice snack with an apple or some celery, or it can turn into eating it straight from the jar with a spoon! And before I know it, half the jar is gone! Those calories and fat add up quick and can put a good dent in your fat loss efforts if you let it. I haven’t been sleeping much lately (baby is now 3 months), and I don’t have as much control when I lack sleep.
They key is to know your body and know what may send you off the deep end. Maybe avoid those foods for a short time, then practice moderation with them until you can have them in small doses without consuming the whole jar/package/tub. I need to continue to work on that with peanut butter. Allow myself 1 serving day without letting it send me into a peanut butter binge.
What foods do you have a hard time having in moderation? Do you notice these food cravings are triggered at different times? Such as when you are stressed or not sleeping enough?
